DANCE THERAPY
Movement and gentle rhythm can release stress, develop self awareness, and renew your focus and joy in life.
DANCE THERAPY
So what is dance therapy?
Dance Therapy is based mainly upon the belief that body and mind interact, both conscious and unconscious movement of the person.
Dance therapy is different from other forms of rehabilitative treatments because it allows creative expression and is more holistic, meaning it treats the full person: mind, body, and spirit.
Movement is believed to have a symbolic function and as such can aid in understanding the self.
Dance therapy works to improve social skills, as well as relational dynamics among the clients that choose to participate in it, to better improve their quality of life. Through this form of therapy clients will gain a deeper sense of self-awareness through a meditative process that involves movement, motion, and the realisation of one's body.
Leonie had always hoped to combine her life-long dance-teaching skills with therapy, and so in 2015 and 2016 she studied The Dance of Life third-level course intensively at the International Institute for Dance Therapy in Tenerife, with the esteemed psychologist and creator of the Dance of Life programme, Petra Klein.
